Pack News

 

¨      The Memorial Day Parade is in North Chelmsford this year.  The parade starts at 10:00, we will be meeting at 9:00 at the American Legion Post 313 on Groton Rd across from the Senior Center.   Scouts need to wear their Class A uniforms and bring a water bottle.  The parade route will be shorter this year, it is just going around Vinyl Square.

¨      Scouts Day at Canobie Lake Park - June 2 Any scout wearing their uniform or an element of their uniform will receive a Buy One Get One FREE special. Admission is $21.  hours:  11am-10pm.  More details at www.canobie.com.

¨      COWs at Lonetree - July 21/22 & Aug 11/12. The Cub Scout Overnight Weekend program at Lonetree Scout Reservation is designed for a boy and an adult partner to enjoy camping together for a Saturday and Sunday.  Meals are served.  Open to all Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts.  This could be a fun Pack activity this summer.  See Elmer Lyons for more details about this and other opportunities at Lonetree.

¨      The Greater Lowell Chuck Wagon Derby (School’s OUT Campout) - June 23 will be held at Lonetree Scout Reservation.  Register online at the council website.

¨      Local Activities: There are many offerings that the cubs might enjoy listed in the Chelmsford community newsletter.  For instance, the Open Space Stewardship group is offering several local hikes/events in the next few weeks.  check out the newsletter at http://www.egovlink.com/public_documents300/chelmsford/published_documents/Recreation/web204237Town.pdf

¨      Pack 81 class B t-shirts (royal blue with yellow design) are available for $8.  These t-shirts can be worn for many informal Pack and Den events as well as the Fourth of July parade.  Please see Stacey Curran, or contact her at (978) 455-5317 or craybdavi@cs.com, to purchase t-shirts.

¨      Pack 81 NEEDS YOU –Pack 81 needs your help to run this all volunteer organization.  Every parent should play a role (even a small one) to help our Pack be the best it can be. Talk to Diane Reidy or Jim Francisco to find out what you can do to make the difference.

¨      Spinners Camp-in – If you signed up for the Lowell Spinners Camp In, we are all confirmed for Saturday, August 25th.  Diane Reidy will deliver your tickets when she receives them.

¨      Non-Perishable Food Donations - Aldersgate Church has thanked everyone at Pack 81 for their very generous donations to this monthly collection.  Please continue to bring non-perishable food items to each Pack meeting.  Thank you very much for participating.

Congratulations to Sebastian A, Kenny C, Matthew C, Joey F, Matthew F, Chris H and Donovan L  who all earned their Bear Badge. This past Saturday of boys' of Den 7 had the opportunity of attending the Webelos Woods program at Camp Lonetree in NH.  Den 7's Den Chief Ben H. led the boys through 14 learning stations with subjects such as cooking with Dutch ovens, tomahawk throwing, first aid, camp site safety and map and compass to name a few.  The program is designed to show the boys what it is like to be in a Boy Scout Troop and is highly recommended for any first year Webelo.  Congratulations to Taylor C, Shane C, Chris H and Shawn G for earning their Citizen Activity Badge and Citizenship Beltloop.  John-Thomas C, Shane C, Shawn Gand Chris H for earning their Baseball Beltloop.  Shane Cn for earning his Traveler Activity Badges. A special thanks to Dave H for helping guide the boys at Webelo Woods and to Jack N for planning, preparing and conducting a Den Meeting as Den Leader for the Day.  Great job guys!  Thanks for "Doing Your Best"!!!!!!!!

Sam W, Den 10, and Donovan L, Den 5, attended MIT's Lincoln Lab Science on Saturdays presentation of Plasma and Ions. It was a lot of fun.
